Last week I was at the invitation only, Virtuoso Travel Week in Las Vegas, and it did not disappoint. I went in early and kicked off the weekend with a full day at a Cruise Academy class, followed by some unique time with cruise suppliers. From the traditional ocean ships cruising the Caribbean to Antarctic expedition cruises they were all here. So uniquely different. It is clear that the client needs to be the priority! The style of the cruise, the destinations, the size of the ships, what’s included, budget, river or ocean, big or small, all take some real discernment to put the right guest on the perfect ship for them. Along with amazing training and enrichment classes, we also met with hoteliers, tour operators, cruise lines, and destination tourism boards. Each day we had 62 4-minute appointments in the morning- like, speed dating. It is truly amazing how much you can learn in 4 minutes, and a face to face meeting with a hotel owner or general manager makes a great impression. Each afternoon we had 8 10-minute appointments that were matched because of our interest in the destination, cruise line, tour, or property. I felt honored to meet these vendors that traveled from 98 countries to meet with key travel advisors. Lunches, dinners, and evening events filled the rest of the time! It was non-stop for a full 7 days! I returned with amazing energy and passion for the travel business and for helping my clients have “not just one trip of a life time, but a lifetime of extraordinary trips”!
